Rodriguez playing in the Instructional League with the Brewers in 2012.
Alfredo Rodriguez was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 17th round of the 2012 MLB Draft from the University of Maryland. Rodriguez played three seasons in the Minor Leagues, all in the Brewers organization. He also five years of Independent Baseball in the Frontier League and the Atlantic League. Alfredo briefly shared his thoughts on the Minor League system and offered some insight regarding how the it could improve the experience of the players with a few tweaks.
"Minor Leaguers are definitely being underpaid; it is what we sign up for in hopes of achieving our dream. With that being said, I do believe that they can start by providing at a minimum health insurance year round to players and even a yearly salary. Players put an incredible amount of effort and sacrifice year round only to be supported for 6 months. This would allow a greater investment in the Minor Leagues and ultimately lead to a better product in the MLB."
