Webb playing for the Frederick Keys, formerly the High A ball affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, in 2013.
Brenden Webb was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 30th round of the 2009 MLB Draft from Palomar College in San Marcos, CA and signed for $250,000. Brenden played parts of eight seasons in the MiLB, reaching as high as the AA level with the Harrisburg Senators. Before his release from the Orioles organization in 2015, he came up through the Minor League ranks with MLB superstar, Manny Machado. Webb was very pleased with the work that we are doing as an organization and was excited to share his experience to further spread this message.
"It was tough to get by on a Minor League salary. It kind of was what it was during the season, I just wanted to play ball. I understood that the bat boy and the concession stand workers made more than me per hour, but I made enough to get by. The offseason was toughest...finding a job, a place to live, somewhere to workout, and somewhere to practice was difficult at times, and it was even more difficult without being able to really save up money during the season. The system is definitely broken, but I did it because I knew that I had to in order to potentially make it, and I think everyone playing has that same mindset."
